Back before the internet, a lot of us found ourselves glued to the television on Saturday Mornings watching pro wrestling...the psycho/sexual drama featuring sweaty, muscular men rolling around in next to nothing was as close to gay porn as we might have found back in the 70's and 80's (as well as the early 90's). These days, wrestling-fetish-porn-sites are a dime a dozen. That said, here's a tip of the hat to some of the gladiators that kept us in rapt attention in the good old days.
If the 80's produced one true perfect example of sex appeal in the ring, it would have to be Tom "The Z Man" Zenk. His perfect body, impressive bulge, and mighty mullet brought a lot of us to our knees. Dishing out the punishment, or taking a beating, Tom always looked too good to be true.
In the late 70's, Ivan (" The Polish Hammer) Putski , kicked ass in the squared circle. His compact, muscular body, was a welcome addition to the show. He also helped a lot of us with "Father Issues", if you get my drift...
...speaking about Father Issues, Ivan's son, Scott Putski, showed up in the mid 80's. Tough, sexy, and sure of himself, Scott proved that the apple does not fall far from the tree.
Tommy Rogers was all blond hair, boyish good looks, perky butt, and legs that could scissor any appointment twice his size.
Before he came to a tragic end (like many in his wrestling involved family), Kerry Von Eric was a force of nature. His incredible physique, his rock-and-roll-boy hair, and his incredible strength made him a favorite of many gay fans.
Kerry's, little brother, Kevin was a high-flying sensation who often wrestled bare foot. His flawless body, good looks and the way he would wrap himself around an opponent left many of us slack jawed and in a cold sweat.
The late, Rick Rude. One part wrestler, one part S&M fantasy figure; kicked ass, took names and thought nothing of doing the bump and grind in post victory situations.
Speaking of bumping and grinding; the early 90's gave us Alex Wright. This gorgeous German boy would hop into the ring in a leather jacket, and dance to electronic music, happily thrusting his hips so the public could get a look at that magnificent bulge he always seemed to be sporting.
Before the steroids ruined him, before he beat his wife, before he found Jebus...Lex Lugar was a beautiful piece of flesh. Like a Nordic God. He reveled in torturing his opponent, flexed his pecs, and loved to show off his biceps. In his day, back in the mid 80's, Lex was truly one of the most sexually appealing men in pro wrestling.
